OK I tried it and it stayed up.
I started skype, and in options -> sound devices,
I changed the devices to jack (fors time I saw it listed as an available 
device)
and i clicked on "Make a test sound". It made no sound :(

So while jackd is running, I re-enabled pulseaudio in the hope
It would work in tandem with jackd. No luck there either.

Seems there is an exclusive access to the alsa device. If
pulseaudio has it, jackd cannot have it, and vice versa.
