I guess that's a problem with your dhcpd ?

The nis domain is a vendor extension (see RFC 2132);  this  is  some-
thing  which PPCBoot _receives_ (see net/bootp.[ch], code option 40).
It never sends such information to the server.

I guess you entered a string in your dhcpd configuration  file  which
is longer than the acceptable maximum for this server.
