Sorry that I didn't have the time for deeper investigation but I found two hints:
1. Do you have the hibernate-entitymanager jars in your classpath defined in the 
Hibernate Plugin configuration?

2. Is your persistence.xml in the subdirectory /META-INF/ of your classpath 
defined in the Hibernate Plugin configuration.
