ToDo view won't open from Today View

After reading the new version 6 manual again I discovered a handy
option. If you have more ToDo's open than the display can hold (in the
Today View) , a button will appear that can invoke a saved view called
"Todo View" (says the Manual on page 32)

I have made that view and it opens correctly when accessed from the
diamond-key. 
But it will not open from the Today-View (while the button is displayed)

Has anyone else noticed this and how did you solve it
I tried all I can think of, but alas no success
Any help  is appreciated
