On its website Asus offers Windows CIR drivers (XP, Vista, 7) for the 
Asus S1-AT5NM10E. Maybe it helps you to port it to Linux.

You can get the drivers here:

Choose the "Download" tab and select an Operating System. Under 
"Utilities" you can find "Winbond CIR Driver V2.1.2009.619". I recommend 
the China mirror for downloading the drivers.
