Log file

Hello, I am having some problems with lirc on my new Debian testing.
The lirc version is 0.9.0~pre1-1.

I am using with MythTV and the problem is that sometimes the remote
stop to work and I must restart the lirc service.

Is there any way to monitor the service and restart if it is failing?

I want to know what is happening but there is no any log file, is
possible to enable?
