We had a chat at JavaOne about DWR support in SWF, and (prompted) I'm sending you a template 'SpringWebFlowCreator' that should enable users to hook DWR into SWF.
I've attached 2 files - DWR's SpringCreator, which might be useful in case you want to see how the full monty is wired together, and a much stripped down version that doesn't take into account the edge cases, called SpringWebFlowCreator.
I guess you can make a few tweaks to the getInstance() method and it will all be quite easy.

I'm currently working with some SWF wizards that have inner AJAX calls to DWR. We are currently using the Http session to store the data but it seems like a hack really as I would really need to use the backing object. Unfortunately I'm quite busy at the moment and cannot employ time in it. Is anybody also interested? I can create a Jira issue if so.
