 Hello,

 My company Fire Island Ltd. (of which I am a director) are developing
a social networking site based around music events. We have built a
static mock-up of  the site (which can perhaps be used as a design
document) and now require assistance in building the server-side
application code and database. We favour the Ruby on Rails framework,
MySQL and Linux as our platform.

 The site will include these standard social networking features:

 Users can register and create a profile.
 Users can find other users, add them as friends and leave
comments/send messages.
 Users can edit their profile, adding basic textual information and
uploading a profile picture.

 Users can also browse/search a list of music events. Each event has
its own page. Here the user can state that they are attending the
event (or have attended in the past). Users can upload photos of the
event, tagged with the year of the event. Users can leave comments on
the event page.

 Users can browse/search a list of bands/artists. Each band has its
own page. Here the user can state that they are a fan, they have seen
the band perform (including at which event and which year). Users can
upload photos of the band, tagged with which event the performance was
at and in which year. Users can leave comments for the band.

 Users can join one of many regional networks (London, New York, etc).
Users can then find other users in the same network that are attending
the same events.

 Users can access a personal dashboard. Here they can confirm/deny
friend requests (an email is received when a friend request is made).
They can also edit/delete friends. Users can edit/delete photos and
edit/delete profile information and account settings (email address,
password, etc).

 We would also like to take advantage of the Lazy registration design
pattern. A new visitor will not be forced to sign up straight away.
The visitor can begin interacting with the site and making some of the
above actions before sign up. A temporary account will be made for
them, allowing them to return to the site and upgrade by registering
at a later time. Registering will unlock the other restricted features
for them. Restricted features include: adding friends, leaving
comments, posting photos. Unrestricted features include: stating that
they have attended an event, becoming a fan of a band and viewing
their own 'basic' profile page.
