Subject: wxGTK is affected by a gtk/ibus issue in ubuntu 14.10

This is a heads-up about something that, though not a wx bug, is likely
to affect all wx programs running on the current ubuntu, 14.10 (utopic).

It was reported in this long (most of the interesting bits start halfway
down the second page) CodeLite forum thread
<http://codelite.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2749>
that keypresses were
intermittently being lost in a wxStyledTextCtrl, and that certain keys e.g.

backspace weren't working in wxTextCtrls. The latter issue is easily seen
in the 'text' sample. It happens with both gtk2 and gtk3 builds, but not in

wxX11. That CodeLite binary was built against the ubuntu wx3.0.1 package,
and the missing keypresses issue was cured by upgrading to 3.0.2.

It turns out that similar issues affect other gtk editors e.g. gedit, but
not the non-gtk kwrite. Sufficient googling eventually found that it's to
do with ibus (Intelligent Input Bus) and turning that off fixes the
problems; instructions and references on page 3 of the thread.

Regards,

David
