The code = data paradigm carries over from Maxima into Lisp, so you should be fairly comfortable, but there are various departures from Lisp, notably the lack of lexical scope. Also Maxima is not exactly a Lisp-1 nor a Lisp-2. Sorry for the confusion. About Lisp & Maxima, there is section in the reference manual about that; ?? lisp at the input prompt should find it.
