oh thanks.. ! I updated the "install from source" page to include the installation instructions for Debian "Sid". I just copied the page from Ubuntu and changed ets 2.7.1 to ets 2.8 because that was the one that worked on my system.

Awesome, thanks so much!   I noticed at the header of the "Sid" page that you point out that certain ETS related projects are in the system repo.  Is it possible to install full ETS from these?  It doesn't look like it but I thought I'd ask.   If so, any chance you want to write up a Debian Sid page for the install section?

Any pointers on where to start fixing bugs ? I looked at the list of open tickets for Chaco2. Seems pretty long. Can people point me to easy ones for a start ? (I studied the Traits documentation and went thro the Chaco2 examples and made 1 or 2 of my own.)

I wish I knew more about the roadmap for Chaco so I could do that for you.  I think you'll need Peter Wang to chime in here.  That said, if you think your examples would be useful for others to learn Chaco, you might start out by submitting a patch to get them added into the tree.
