leopard, 2.5, VE 1.1.... progress?

Hi,

I've gotten what seems to be a working version of VE on my 10.5  
machines with the non-system 2.5.

But some demos just do not work (for example, color grating).  They  
seem to be complaining about my OpenGL 3.0.b5 not be 2 or >.

Any thoughts?
