This is a simple test file, let's call it test.mp:

pickup pencircle scaled 0.0000000000000001pt;
draw (0,u)--(u,u);

.  I view it giving the following commands:

 $ mpost test
 $ tex mproof test.1
 $ dvips -Pwww -omproof.ps mproof
 $ gv mproof.ps
