FireWire <-> USB adapters do not exist.  FireWire (IEEE 1394) is
fundamentally different from USB.

The only way to add FireWire to laptops without onboard FireWire is by
means of a CardBus card or an ExpressCard card, provided that the laptop
has such a card slot.

Kino only works with FireWire camcorders.  Dvgrab works with FireWire
camcorders and also with USB camcorders that comply with UVC and DV.
