JT announcement - proposal
Hi, Because my last announcement on Psi-devel mailing list didn't arouse interest, I would like to consult the next announcement, designed for iaxclient-devel. What do you think about it? What should I change? Did you find any mistakes? Thanks for help Marcin <ANNOUNCEMENT> Hi, I would like to present you Johnny Talker - a tool (library) for fast and easy creation of VoIP-based applications. It extends ability of IAXClient due to its dual form where all VoIP mechanism are tightly closed in JT core - running in separate thread as a daemon (clients - server in Music Player Daemon (MPD) style - there were discussion about demand for that kind of software around half year ago). Final application uses only high level client library which transparently wraps communication with core (via BSD sockets). Thanks to that application for end-user can be written even easier than with IAXClient. Due to a fact that all VoIP functionality is in core it can be easy restarted or replaced without impact to final application. That software is smaller and unaffected by for example VoIP part crashes. Every user has chance to choose the best for him front-end (GTK+, Qt, MFC, ncurses, ...) and remains the same VoIP functionality. It's also very easy to add VoIP functionality to already existing applications. Despite many hours spent on developing Johnny Talker its first public release is really development version and is aimed at people who want to use it in the future. I would like to hear opinions of others in order to better match project with its expectations. See sample and minimal source code of "VoIP clients" created using JT. http://johnny.wit.edu.pl/docs/sample-code.html http://johnny.wit.edu.pl/docs/minimal-code.html I would like to invite everyone interested in JT developing and using it in they own programs to voice communication on project devel mailing list (available also via NNTP - Gmane), alternative here. The tool is a free software and can be found at project's homepage: http://johnny.wit.edu.pl/ Thanks for you opinions Marcin Zajaczkowski </ANNOUNCEMENT>
