A user posted on Pibb a couple of days ago about having been unable to post to the OpenID.net mailing lists, and included their message, requesting a response. Here's the contact information and message; I don't endorse the message myself, indeed I disagree with the first part and I'm not clear on what the rest is about. -Shade Adisa Nicholson afaninthehouse <at> gmail.com http://www.tynamite.uk.to I posted this message to the OpenID.net mailing lists on the 30th of April and never got it approved or rejected. The mailing lists really suck as it should be a forum such as bbPress or phpBB. Here's the message I posted I would like a reponse to. /\/\/\/\/\ I run a website that allows webmasters to track their uptime and display that image on their website as an emblem of how great their host is. It's used mostly by webhosts and placed on the homepage. The website emails an account when that account's assigned webpage has downtime. What if a guy called John Smith's webhost has downtime and I email him. How do i get his email? The only way I can get persona information via the janrain php openid library is via the user authenticating themself. But John Smith cannot authenticate himself because he's away from the computer. I've thought of everytime a user logs in the database will be updated with the most recent email. But what if John Smith changes his email which is assigned to his persona and does not log into my website. How do I contact John Smith? John Smith wants me to contact him as he's allowed my site to access his persona forever. MyOpenID supports personas. I suggest that this problem gets solved real quick. It's all right now, but if you want OpenID to have a future, this feature has to be implemented. Please reply back.
