Slogan

Let we start a separate thread about slogan. So so far we have two
opinions, from David and Nicholas:

David Pennell wrote:

Let the discussion continue!

Packaging: squeak-web and one-click Scribo?

Dear all,

As a result of recent comments and questions from David Pennell and
discussion on IRC with Nico we come out with idea to package Aida and
Scribo in two distributions:

1. one-click Scribo image, end-user/power user oriented, after image
startup just a simple GUI app with buttons for start/stop Scribo will be
shown.

2. Damien's squeak-web image with Aida and Scribo loaded, developer
oriented. Scribo will be here loaded as a CMS framework, for building
web apps combined with CMS functionality.

Scribo one-click will start with Scribo default design while Aida dev
image with Aida one. I also hope we will manage to develop enough
configuration that Scribo will actually be a standalone configured,
without a need for Smalltalk knowledge.

This is for Squeak, for other Smalltalks probably the same.

Do you see such way of packaging both projects a good way to go?
Remember, all idea is to come a close as possible to two different
audiences:

- CMS end/power users
- developers

Best regards
JAnko

A little GUI app to start/stop Scribo, any takers?

Dear all,

For forthcoming Scribo one-click image to be as easy as possible for
newcomers and non Smalltalkers we need to build a small GUI app for
start and stop of Scribo.

Anyone volunteering for that really simple Squeak Morphic app?

I see this app in a small window, with:

1. Scribo logo at the top
2. two buttons: Start, Stop, one is obviously grayed and disabled.
3. aidademo running at http://localhost:8888
(this line is written from AIDASite data, one line for each
AIDASite present. See SwazooServer singleton sites)
4. class name: ScriboStartup (or osmething like that)

That's it? Isn't really simple :)

Naming, when AIDA/Web, AIDA/Scribo, Aida, Scribo?

Dear all,

Le me repeat from previous post the "rules" to use different names
consistently:

1. There are long names AIDA/Web and AIDA/Scribo, to show that those
are two products of the same family. Also both logos are similar to show
that similarity. This is like in case of Plone/Zope.

2. Aida and Scribo are then short names, for everyday talk.

3. AIDAweb and AIDAscribo are used just in both logo designs.

If we use names that way consistently I think we will avoid any
confusion about the names.

Ok, AIDA in capital letters looks like an acronym. But what it means?
Well, I don't know yet :) Let we define it ...

Best regards
Janko

AIDA/Scribo for company site

Is AIDA/Scribo solid enough that a Smalltalker could reasonably use it for a small company site?

New header for default Aida style

Dear all,

Yesterday Janja designed a first version of new header for default
WebStyle as part of every Aida distribution and which is seen after Aida
is installed and run for the first time. Something like that on Nico's demo:

	http://demo.bioskop.fr/wiki/wiki.html

So, how do you like it, what do you think about slogan part, are two
slogans good or maybe too much at once, etc.

Thanks for your comments in advance

Website design, please provide examples from web

Dear all,

Now after we have the logo, it is a time to start the website redesign
too. Our designer Janja already started thinking about it and she is
asking many questions, about layout mostly. The best way to help her is
to show the website examples from the web. So, please:

- provide links to websites which are good to be looked at, from
organization and layout and not so much from graphical design standpoint

- what to put on the first page?

- menus, vertical or horizontal (tabs)? one level only or with dropdown
menus in tab variant?

..etc

Thanks and best regards
Janko

Improving gallery support in Scribo

Hi all,

I improved the gallery scriblet in Scribo.
First of all, now it's really a Scriblet (subclass of Scriblet).
It's an ajaxified component, and when you open an image, it opens a nice
lightbox with the image in a bigger size in it.

There is also a separate view to edit the gallery: size of the gallery,
images, order of images, etc

See the attached screenshots, and tell me what you think :)

Cheers!

Nico
