I think I’ve not encountered or heard of a problem like that, and that’s in twelve years of Ecco consulting, most of which have included involvement in or monitoring of Ecco newsgroups. I don’t have simple advice to offer for this situation; I’d be happy to provide support on a consultative basis, and I’m confident that, working interactively with you or your secretary, we’d safely and efficiently solve the problem. (Of course, regardless of my confidence, my client agreement terms assign all risk to you<grin>.) Whatever you do, I recommend having a full backup of the relevant files before you proceed.
I trust that you’ll find this non-specific post non-offensive. It’s accurate and, for some, the information can be vital to obtaining what they’re seeking. Below my already-long signature block, I’ll put a P.S. with a pertinent excerpt written years ago by the now-current moderator of the newsgroup.

Regarding my posting regarding my ability to provide tech support, the following might be of interest. Nick Gordon, who has been this group's moderator since early in 2003, wrote the following in 2002. (His mention of "you" and "your" were referring to me.)
<< And another important point: if you don't make this list aware of your services, where would someone be able to look for Ecco consultancy?
This is probably the only significant resource left (apologies if I'm forgetting anyone), and therefore the only place anyone will come looking for Ecco help.
IOW, we *need* you to keep promoting yourself the way you do.>> [End of excerpt; source: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eccopro/message/4003

I have used ECCo Pro (Versioon 4.01 32 bit) for a long time. I am now having a problem with pop up notice that keeps coming on that says "can't write to file, cause unknown". Actually I can write to the file, although sometimes it acts kind of funny. Sometimes when I make an entry on the calendar the entry except for the first letter disappears. Other times it works okay. My secretary's computer is the master file, we are networked. (her computer has be on before I can turn on my ECC) She is not having any problem on her computer. I cannot shut the program down without doing a soft boot. When I try to turn it off the pop comes and won't let me exit.
