Tobbe sent me this, I felt I should reply to the list:

GS, Global Schemes, at the moment will not work under OTS2.

You see, GS enabled themes must tell the OTS that it uses GS,
then the OTS can load the required evars and modules for the theme to use.

The other option is to always load the evars and modules regardless of
wether or not the theme will use them.

When I was developing GS I felt it obvious that OTS2 themes would need to
be re-written (updated)
to use GS anyway, so during that process updating to OTS3 would not seem
so difficult (the addition of a file with a few lines in it, 2mins work,
2mins)

I do not think GS is such a popular idea (Nor OTS3 for that matter, but
that has other problems)
Most modern litestep themes are created to accompany a suite of skins (the
images are an intrinsic part of the theme)

I have been the only one to write GS compat themes.
To me, from my perspective, its just as simple to code the "GS" into the
theme, to make it fully OTS2.

If anybody wants an easy way to do that,
just look at my latest theme "ICONIFUCKATION"
http://www.ls-themes.org/index.php?cat=view&id=142
There is a file called "GS.rc" in the config folder that has the default
System GS and the GS mapping evars to some xmodules.

Though really there is no point in using my way, when you could just
develop your own (probably better) way of "scheming" your theme.
That is how it has been done since the beggining.
Everybody separate.
I tried to bring a new era of togetherness, a collective effort to evolve
LS (any direction is better that down), but the themers have spoken (or
rather NOT spoken).

So have the users, just look at the trend:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=litestep

Honestly, anybody could have made GS work by now, but I don't think
anybody cares :D

So, IMHO, just make your installer OTS2, without GS.
Concentrate on getting OTS2 supported fully, there are a whole back
catalogue of themes available.

GS Documentation (Pre-June, 2007):
http://www.fractaldesignz.orcon.net.nz/Litestep/GS/GSDocs.chm

Also, I have little time for LS anymore.
Its good to be back on my shell, but developing time is scarce to find
between Family, Friends, Work and general Real Life busy'ness.
I'll be more productive in the future.
But for now I will just be re-discovering what was fun about LS in the
first place.

LSLUA is more powerfull than ever, themes should be amazing by now, where
are they?
Where is the talent?

OTS3 needs python to install, so nobody uses it, atleast more people that
don't use it actually comment about how they don't use it.
(We'll, I didn't, and I was one of the testers!!!)

What is missing?

Its time for Litestep Development to draw up a battle plan and start
making all the cool stuff we know is possible a reality!

Screw OTS2, we have done that, its safe, everybody is comfortable and
happy.
Meanwhile all the possibilities LSlua, xPC, GS, OTS3 (the list goes on)
offer are lying stagnant in the shadows.
!!!! THEY SHOULD BE SHINING BRIGHTLY IN THE SUN !!!!

/Rant
Hehehe :P
