 Dear Reader's:

I'm so sorry to quote this out of context, and I have not read the prior post on this subject but please forgive me.

I was asked this very same question at one of my First Autism Conferences in Bloomington Indiana right after I had been introduced as the 'next Temple Grandin' By Cathy Pratt now in the Autism Society, I knew this question was indeed possible and I even practiced an answer that was not one way or another, well, Spin, for lack of a better term. Well, despite my best effort I simply read my picture thought and translated it to no, I'd have a Boyfriend.  The D**** place went DEAD quiet! 10 minutes before I had been telling them of driving 6 hours on my own to get there in a course on Autistic Driving!

The one person smiling was a waiter in the hallway setting up for a dinner in an adjoining ballroom.

Funny, the day before in this two day conference people were all over me and pounding on room door and cornering me in the elevator and after that I had the elevator to my self and people switched sides of the hall to avoid me.  Yes, there were even trying to set me up!  (Humor) and they say gay folks recruit.  I had a full slate of Autism events planned and suddenly I got all kinds of dear John letter's and excuses. I was even supposed to meet Temple In person at the next conference and homophobia played a role in preventing that as well, we were with in 4 foot of each other before a situation developed.

I have since spoken with another member of the same panel I was on and he to has come out. Autism homophobia and GLBT issues don't mix in some people's eyes BUT, when they do and they are figured out in a "queer eye for the straight guy type of thing" Autism has its very best functioning populations.  Please consider asking the question do you have a girlfriend with some idea the person might not.  Thanks   Rich
