Don't lacquer it.  It will look terrible. Frequent use will actually prevent a lot of tarnish, which is why silver jewelry (if worn regularly) tends to stay shinier than silver tableware, etc.   Certainly if you can afford a silver snuff box, you can afford servants to polish it for you, correct?
 
Only joking.  I have 3 wood snuff boxes for normal use.  I also would like a silver one for dress attire.   I actually enjoy polishing metals, so the tarnish aspect is not a concern for me.

I'm not exactly sure I understand what your question is but I can tell you how I snuff. I have two very nice n small real silver snuff boxes that I picked up for $20 each they fit in any pocket very easily and small enough that they fit in the palm of my hand if I don't want to show it off. I don't like to use it for two main reasons, #1 it gets tarnished to fast, I need to try to see if anyone can lacquer it for me so it stays nice and clean. Number two, if I pinch out of an open can I some times over do it, that's why I like to use the holders they come in like packard club.

Does anyone sport a silver snuffbox for dress attire? Also, what etiquette do you practice regarding snuff and acquaintances about you when you choose to partake thereof? This is not to be pretentious, but rather a serious inquiry, since I find myself 50% in jeans and 50% in a tux, and I thought to maintain decorum as best as I can, out of sheer politeness.
