No, that's another old one! I've now moved it out of the way to avoid
confusion.
The right one is now written in C, and is compiled up here on rain:
/home/xapian/gmane-search-dev/log-datespool
But it generally shouldn't need restarting unless rain itself is
rebooted. The latest log-datespool is meant to cleanly handle the news
server being rebooted for example - I wasn't able to test that code when
I wrote it, but it looks like it handled the reboot today correctly.
If it does ever need restarting, it really needs to run as user xapian -
the cronjob which updates the database sends log-datespool signals
which won't work if it's running as root, so no new messages will make
it into the index.
