It might already be fixed. The last 1.4.2 Update was kind of unstable, 
but Apple will soon release a new 1.4.2 update that has gone through 
three public testing cycles, so it should be a lot better:

  I haven't tried it out, though, because of the ominous warnings about 
having to reinstall your entire system if you want to revert back to 
the prior release. :(
