John is correct in that feature films don't seem to have a dedicated classification arrangement. We keep the feature films behind the counter in closed stacks so accession numbers are fine. The AV dept did change the accession number for films about seven years ago, from the old VC number (for videocassettes) to FF and a number. We have little need to class them, but as my earlier post indicated, the other campus wanted LC call numbers for everything in the video recording collections, so PN1997 & PN1997.2. They do keep the feature films behind the desk, so even there the need is minimal to classify them. Feature films can be divided into genres, but sometimes the genre is unclear but the title is the main thing so they are in fact arranged by title. bob mead-donaldson florida international university Myers, John F. wrote: > Neither LCC nor DDC address the classification of feature films in a > very satisfactory fashion. > > Many LCC libraries co-opt the screenplay class numbers (PN1997/PN1997.2) > to serve their needs.
