It's for works which attempt to define the central, essential core of
a faith, e.g., Harnock's 1890 lectures which asked whether
Christianity was the religionn about Jesus (risen Savour) or of Jesus
(love God and your neighbour).

A guided search of subject headings in the LC online catalogue
produces 1326 hits.  You might browse through some of the titles and
get an idea, title like "Understanding Islam".
