Barbara Michaels/Elizabeth Peters

I was just doing some weeding up in the fiction section, and came across
two books by Barbara Michaels mixed in with the books by Elizabeth
Peters. They had the same call number, so I brought them down, assuming
the call numbers were wrong. I discovered that Michaels and Peters were
the same person, which I hadn't known. But now I'm wondering why they
have the same call number? I looked up the authority records and the
base LC call number is the same in both records. Even though they're
the same person, she uses different names for different genres, and it
seems odd that they would be assigned the same number. I know I can
locally change the two Michaels books to another number (since there's
only two, and probably 15 of Peters, easier to change two than 15), but
does anyone know if there's some logical reason to keep them together?
