Web Content Administrator Wayne State University Office for Teaching and Learning Technology Resource Center Reports to the Interim Director of the Office for Teaching and Learning To apply of view the posting, search for posting # 035340 at: https://jobs.wayne.edu Essential Functions: * Serving as primary resource for units university-wide regarding the content and appearance of unit Web pages, the incumbent will: * Administer and provide training in content management tools, control access, review sites for adherence and conformity to editorial and design standards and resolve related problems. * Develop and edit the Office for Teaching and Learning Web site and pages. Identify, select and condense news and events for inclusion on Web page, prepare communications designed to effectively position the OTL, and ensure the delivery of key OTL messages. * Serve as liaison with IT personnel campus-wide to identify and resolve Web page related problems. Work with clients, designers and vendors to ensure established standards and expectations are met. * Develop and implement mechanisms and processes designed to evaluate the effectiveness of OTL electronic communications. Provide analysis of collected data and submit reports and recommendations as requested. * Review and edit the OTL Web site, remove Web pages that are offensive, inappropriate or deemed to be in poor taste. * Establish and maintain effective working relationships with unit administrators hosting Web pages not included in the OTL program. * Supervise full time clerical support personnel. Interview, hire, assign work and evaluate performance. * Perform related work as assigned. Unique Duties * Design and develop the look and feel of the OTL web site and recommend information architecture for the content. Consult with faculty and other instructors on web design principles and technology. Hire and discipline student assistants and graduate student assistants. * Develop and deliver the OTL workshops related to web design for instruction. Consult with faculty and instructors and OTL teams related to instruction for the web. Develop and program a research computer server for OTL instructional research program. * Web design and development experience, including management and updates to a busy web site. Knowledge of UNIX and Linux server systems and management. Knowledge of MySQL and php programming required. * Expert ability in programs such as Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Professional. Proficient in hand coding HTML and competent in JavaScript. * Program and project management experience. Ability to create and lead effective project teams. * Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. * Superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. * Superior customer service commitment and skills. * Experience or education in at least two of the following areas: web design for instruction, web site design and management, instructional technology development and implementation, project management. Qualifications * Graduation from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. * Major concentration in journalism or communications preferred. * Knowledge of Web site technology and applications. * Project management experience. * Excellent writing, editing and communication skills. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with units university wide. * Typically, incumbents assigned to this classification have held positions requiring a combination of communication and web site related knowledge. Preferred Qualifications * Expert ability with Microsoft Office software, including MS Project. * Major concentration in computer & information science preferred.
