It does not hurt, if you have no time for this. For me, it works
when I set the title faces.

Another issue that could be related is, that I tried to
permanently activate the Tex-Pdf mode by customizing the variable
`TeX-PDF-mode'. It was obvious to me, that this is the way it is
meant to be manipulated. However, every newly opended TeX
document refused to activate the PDFLaTeX submode. My solution
was to add a hook to `LaTeX-mode-hook' and set pdf mode there.
