Sort of.  You can customize the variable jabber-roster-sort-functions
and add jabber-roster-sort-by-group to it.  This means that the roster
items will be sorted by group name, even though the group name is not
displayed.  Make sure to put it first in the list.

Of course, it should be possible to display the group name as well.
