Re: UNO dominos
I found a copy of UNO dominoes at a garage sale a few years ago, but I found it disappointing. It definitely did not contain all possible combinations, and I don't think there was any particular pattern to which combinations were included. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I gave it away. If you like dominoes and you like UNO, I'd recommend you design your own hybrid rather than following the UNO dominoes pattern. Some suggestions: 1. Rather than UNO's special cards, just use the numbers on regular dominoes as in Crazy Eights, or the more sophisticated game Craits. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craits I don't know whether it would work better to base the action on the matching side of the domino you just played or the open side. My guess is that using the open side would work better if you try to include the count feature from Craits. 2. If you use the numbers, you'll probably want to use at least a double 9 set of dominoes. I've found that double 9 and higher games work better when they have some method of creating multiple branches in the layout, otherwise it's too hard to find matching dominoes when you only have four places to play. Chickenfoot is a good example that creates a highly branched layout. http://www.domino-games.com/domino-rules/chickenfoot-rules.html These are just ideas, I haven't tested any of them. If you're looking for different domino games and you like making game pieces, check out the piecepack game Ley Lines. http://www.piecepack.org/ http://www.ludism.org/ppwiki/LeyLines good luck, Don --- In BoardGameDesign@..., "Tim Schutz" <yahoo <at> ...> wrote: > > From the looks of the pictures on the boardgamegeek > http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/3839 it looks like they combined > some things on the dominoes.
