Well, WebDAV too :)  Although we're not currently discussing
notification support it's something we've discussed in the past.
Users need to know when resources become unlocked, or when new
resources are added to folders they're interested in.

I think XMPP has a lot to offer WebDAV, and WebDAV also has a lot
to offer XMPP/IM.  For example, if there were a standardized format
for contact information or buddy lists, the information could be 
stored on a WebDAV server and gain all the benefits of distributed
authoring features.  Since my buddy lists and contact information 
is all accessed by multiple clients on different devices, even 
though there's only one 'author' (me) there are distributed
authoring agents.  Thus, features like locking and access control
eventually become important.  This isn't to say that your XMPP
server couldn't also offer the same information through XMPP, it
just would open up the access.
