Bug#501277: ITP: coinor-dylp -- Linear programming solver using of the dynamic simplex algorithm

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Soeren Sonnenburg <bugreports <at> nn7.de>

* Package name    : coinor-dylp
  Version         : 1.4.4
  Upstream Author : Lou Hafer <lou <at> cs.sfu.ca>
* URL             : https://projects.coin-or.org/DyLP
* License         : CPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Linear programming solver using of the dynamic simplex algorithm

DyLp is designed to find solutions of constrained linear mathematical
optimization problems. To this end, it is using a full implementation of the so
called dynamic simplex algorithm for linear programming.

DyLP is part of the larger COIN-OR initiative (Computational Infrastructure for
Operations Research) and integrates well in the COIN Open Solver Interface
(OSI), OsiDylp, which takes advantage of capabilities provided by COIN (e.g.,
enhanced input/output and constraint system preprocessing) and is recommended
if you're working in a C++ environment.

Bug#501267: ITP: coinor-cbc -- Coin-or branch-and-cut mixed integer programming solver

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Soeren Sonnenburg <bugreports <at> nn7.de>

* Package name    : coinor-cbc
  Version         : 2.2.1
  Upstream Author : John J. Forrest <jjforre <at> us.ibm.com>
* URL             : https://projects.coin-or.org/Cbc
* License         : CPL
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : Coin-or branch-and-cut mixed integer programming solver

Cbc (Coin-or branch and cut) is an open-source mixed integer programming
solver written in C++. It is primarily meant to be used as a callable
library, but a basic, stand-alone executable version is also available.

Mixed integer programming (MIP) is a generalization of linear programming (LP)
and allows to find the minimum solution of objective functions depending
linearly on variables, which are linearly constrained and additionally may
have integrality constraints.

Cbc is part of the larger COIN-OR initiative (Computational Infrastructure for
Operations Research) and depends on the COIN-OR Clp linear programming solver
for solving subproblems.

Cbc works well as independent solver (reading files in the MPS format) and as a
solver backend for AMPL.

Bug#501220: ITP: libalberta2 -- adaptive finite element library

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "André Gaul" <gaul <at> web-yard.de>

* Package name    : libalberta2
  Version         : 2.0
  Upstream Author : Alfred Schmidt <schmidt <at> math.uni-bremen.de>, Kunibert G. Siebert <kunibert <at> mathematik.uni-freiburg.de>
* URL             : http://www.alberta-fem.de
* License         : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : adaptive finite element library

ALBERTA is an adaptive finite element library
for solving partial differential equations (PDEs).

It offers a hierarchical mesh and methods for 1d, 2d
and 3d stationary as well as time dependent problems.
It is written in C with speed and flexibility in mind.

Please note that the COPYING file in
http://www.alberta-fem.de/Downloads/alberta-2.0.tar.gz
is wrong. ALBERTA 2.0 _is_ licensed under GPL. The
upstream author is informed and will hopefully fix
this issue soon.

Test Debian : Release Goals, Point release, Foo-n-Half...

Hello,

Debian receives quite some feedback from it's users. However some
features that are system-wide probably deserve more attention (like most
of the release goals).

I've written a wiki page[1] which describes four typical scenario to
encourage testers to activate some features (I've thrown some ideas from
the top of my mind for each of them).
Feel free to improve or comment them.

You'll notice that I've added a DD section. I'm wondering whether it
would help to have some recommended features for DDs' machines (like
SElinux, if we want to have it enable by default in Squeeze, **this is
an example**)

Bug#501157: linux-image-2.6.26: New Intel Wifi Link 5100 and 5300.

Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686
Version: 2.6.26-5
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

Intel has a new wireless chipset. Laptops with those chipset are currently
hitting the market, and we can assume they will replace the 3965/4965 soon.

Are there any plan (and any chance) to have them supported in Lenny ?
It seems that the driver is getting merged in upstream kernel 2.6.27.

On August 13, 2008 Tomas Winkler Wrote (on linux-kernel[1] ):
> Intel would like to announce Linux support for Wifi Link 5000 and
> 5100 Series Adapters under iwlwifi driver (iwlagn.ko)

> adapters, available
> in both PCIe* Mini Card and Half Mini Card form factor
> 5100 1x2 MIMO up to 300Mbps
> 5300 3x3 MIMO up to 450Mbps

A summary of this discussion will be available in the wiki page :

Intent To Hijack: ocfs2-tools

Hi,

The maintainer of ocfs2-tools: David Martínez Moreno <ender <at> debian.org>
appears to be inactive. I have tried to contact him regarding ocfs2-tools for
the last 6 months, with no response.

All open and NMUed bugs concerning ocfs2-tools have not seen any activity from
him since almost a year and a half.

If I might not get any sign of life from him within the next 2 weeks, I will
take over ocfs2-tools.

Best regards
Frederik Schüler

Volunteer needed for Iceape security updates in Lenny

A volunteer is needed to build and test the Iceape security updates
in Lenny. Patches are provided through a patch set for each update
round, but the Security Team and the Mozilla maintainers lack the
ressources for the proper integration work. So if you use Iceape
and want to continue to use it in Lenny please step forward and
mail pkg-mozilla-maintainers <at> lists.alioth.debian.org and keep
team <at> security.debian.org CCed.

Cheers,
        Moritz

Re: dists/etch/Release.gpg missing from DVD images

Hi

Is it still the case that one needs to manually add an (gpg checking)
exception for DVD images for upgrades from etch to lenny? If so, can
someone please provide a text (license: GPL v2) for inclusion in the
release notes?

Thanks already.
