unicode

Hello everybody,

I just started to do some experiments with the gamu api.
I found the c-headers quite self-explantory - good work!

But I could not find much information, how to handle the unicode strings in c.

There ist a function for querying the lenght of a string, and I can compare
two strings.

And of cause, there are a lot of functions to convert the encodings.

But can I, for excample copy strings, or merge them whithout converting them
before?

thank you

Christoph Kies

Support for a Philips 535

I can see that there is no philips supported in the Gammu list.

Is there a guideline that I can follow to test my Philips 535 by using
IRDA to transfer files? (In windowsXP works out of the box), but in
linux nothing.

Best Regards.

Using DKU2 cable with Linux 2.6

Hi,
I'm trying to use a Nokia 6680 phone with gammu on a 2.6 system and a DKU2 cable without success.

According to http://osdir.com/ml/drivers.gammu/2006-11/msg00021.html i have to install the dku2 driver which is contained in gammu archive.
But when i try to build it, it fails:

[root <at> box kernel_2.6]# chmod +x configure
[root <at> box kernel_2.6]# ./configure
configure: error: cannot find install-sh or install.sh in ../../config ./../../config
[root <at> box kernel_2.6]# pwd
/tmp/gammu-1.20.0/other/driver/dku2/kernel_2.6
[root <at> admin1005 kernel_2.6]# find /tmp/gammu-1.20.0/ -name '*install*'
/tmp/gammu-1.20.0/templates/gammu-uninstalled.pc.cmake
[root <at> admin1005 kernel_2.6]#

What should I do now? I've downloaded gnokii archive and read Docs/README-DKU2 and followed instructions:

* Install *
| Get / configure / build a set of kernel sources.
$ cd $gnokii_sources/patches/kernel_2.{4,6}
| If you have the gnokii CVS version
$ autoconf
| See ./configure --help for the available options
| Defaults are:
|  kernsrcdir: /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build -- directory where the sources are
|  kernmoddir: /lib/modules/`uname -r` -- base module installation directory
$ ./configure --with-kernsrcdir=dir1 --with-kernmoddir=dir2
| replace dir1 and dir2 with real paths
$ make
| Become root
# make install
# modprobe nokia_dku2
# dmesg
| Look for the lines as shown above!
| Edit .gnokiirc to include port=/dev/ttyUSB.. and connection=dku2

But there's no configure script in kernel_2.6 directory:

[root <at> admin1005 kernel_2.6]# pwd
/tmp/gnokii-0.6.26/patches/kernel_2.6
[root <at> admin1005 kernel_2.6]# ls
configure.in  Makefile.in  nokia_dku2.c  nokia_dku2.c.2_6_15  nokia_dku2.h
[root <at> admin1005 kernel_2.6]#

Is there a clear and working procedure to use a DKU2 cable ?

Regards,

Marc

Nokia 6205 Support?

I gave wammu a whirl with my new Nokia 6205, and had it scan the USB
port it was connected to. Wammu seems to spin in place, not finishing
the scan and having to be killed in the end. (during this the system
load is pretty high)

Anyone tried the 6205 and gotten it working? A google search didn't
turn up much.

Bricked Nokia 6131 when adding todo?

Hi,

I was playing around with wammu on my recently purchased Nokia 6131, when I tried to add a todo item.
First it failed to send with some error about the date I think, then I tried again, and it just hung forever.
So I killed wammu, but the phone was unresponsive.
I thought "crappy firmware", turned it off then on, but now it just displays the signal/battey/bluetooth
icons, and nothing else, and only the green/red/power buttons are doing something.
During startup, I can type 3 or 4 digits before it blocks, but not enough for a *#7370# factory reset.

My guess is that my new todo item is in a corrupted format, so the application hangs as soon as it reads the
event list to set alarms.
But without the menus or keyboard, I can't delete this entry or do a factory reset.

Has anybody seen that before?
Any other way to reset the todo data (special key combination at startup, ...)?
Should I report a bug against gammu?

Thanks in advance for any info.
O.E.

I recently picked up a USB Sierra Wireless Modem (AT&T).

Does anyone have any tips or sample configuration file that worked for them?

Thanks

gammu and akonadi

Hello

I am new user on this list.

First of all, I would like to say that gammu is a good program for phones, and I would like to say Thanks to the devs.

Secondly, I would like to know if gammu plans to make a connection to akonadi datas storage. I think it will get the final step in synchronisazion of personnal datas between agenda on the phone, and on the pc.

Cheers

Stephane

MMS, Sony Ericsson, Wammu

Hi,

I've just installed Wammu and it seems to work quite well with my Sony Ericsson Z610i. It does however not retrieve mms messages from my phone.

I searched around on this list as well as google, and from what I could tell mms support for SE phones is limited, but as the hits I got were a year or more older I thought I'd ask anyway. Does Wammu support mms retrieval for any SE phones (notably Z610i)? If not, what about Gammu/Gammu+? I've somewhat limited time to work my way into handling the backends, so if the GUI would do it for me I'd be thrilled, but I suppose I'll take what I can get.

Thanks for a great program either way,

regards/
