This is in the new FAQ only (unfortunately), and we haven't moved things 
over to the new system yet.

So, it's hardly a problem that no one knew about this.

And, if you restart the node running services, all will be well without 
fixing any files.

So, your advice might well have worked, because it would involve restarting 
the node that's running services.
