My HiNote is waiting for a new lease on life

My HiNote Ultra-II is currently residing here on my desk, upgraded
from potato to woody, but without X. I stripped XFree86 and
everything depending on XFree86, before upgrading, because otherwise I
wouldn't have had space to perform the upgrade.

I saved away the XF86Config file, so reinstalling X shouldn't be much
of a problem. However I would like to upgrade to a stock woody 2.4.x
kernel, and I wonder if that kernel will be plagued by the same freeze
problem that plagued me until I was able to build a customer 2.2.x
kernel that patched the keyboard scan routine.

Only time will show...
