That link explains the LBE, which is used to build the whole LTSP 
terminal environment, in other words, everything under /opt/ltsp.  
That's much more than you need to build a custom kernel, although there 
are instructions on that wiki that mentions it.

If you've never built a kernel before, it's a bit scary at first, but 
once you've done it a time or two you wonder why you ever worried.  The 
2.6 series has a Qt configure GUI (make xconfig) that is really easy, 
although knowing what all the options mean can be daunting.  That's why 
I start with a known config file and add/remove things I know I 
need/don't need.  If you don't change anything, you should have the same 
kernel as stock ltsp.
