looks like the same problem Brett had the other day (look a few posts up 
in this same thread).

In your home directory create a file called ".cvsrc", and put the 
following in it:

-z3
update -PAd
rdiff -u
diff -ubBwpN
checkout -P

Then do another CVS update - it will get the new sysace directory, and 
your make dep should complete properly.
