status of ucw_dev versus ucw_ajax?

Hi!

Trying to learn ucw, by using ucw-boxset.
It is not clear which branch is recommended: 
documentation and tutorials seem to be about ucw_dev,
but ucw_ajax seems the only one actively maintained 
from this mailing list content.
