I get squares for. This is on "GNU Emacs 23.0.96.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu,
GTK+ Version 2.16.4) of 2009-07-17 on elegiac, modified by Debian" and
is most likely because my current font (as it's GTK I can use
arbitrary fonts, nicely anti-aliased), Liberation Mono, doesn't have
glyphs defined for those characters.
