Yeah...the second apology was a little over the top, but still the
overall sentiment is good. Really before this the most public
apologies we had were Russell Crow hitting someone in the head with a
phone and apologizing and Hugh Grant whose apology was "I did something
bad and stupid..." (Shrug)"Sorry!". I found it interesting that both
Dennis Prager and jackie Mason rose to his defense (Jackie said that
Pat Boone told him that he does not think Gibson is an anti-semite and
that was good enough for Mason. According to Jackie, he doesn't think
there is another man who loves Jews as much as Pat Boone). One point
Mason made was that Gibson was drunk, and he feels you cannot put to
much stock in what people say when they are drunk. Prager left room
for this being rather calculated on Gibsons part, but stated that he
feels until Gibson shows otherwise he should be taken for his word and
judged by the actions that follow. He feels the Jewish Community are
obligated to accept the apology and the request for help. He noted
that Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame called his radio show to agree
with the sentiment.
