One take of mine is, don't go with the current "trendy" name list.  When I
was named, the number one choice was Michael, so I ended up in every class
with atleast one often two other Michaels.  A friend of my folks had the
experience that the teacher said "Mike, put that gum in the garbage", and
three kids got up and did so.

Also, avoid the kind of name that would require the kid to take boxing
lessons.
