Re: mysql socket error

To reply to my own message for sake of a resolution -

instead of using "localhost" as the hostname, I used 127.0.0.1 - this fixed all my issues I was having.  I think I have seen this before on mac os x with other applications...

Hello,

I am getting a page of errors when trying to load cacti for the first time.

Here is what I am getting - Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (13) in /Library/WebServer/Documents/cacti/lib/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysql..inc.php on line 355

All of my environment variables are set correctly - allow persistent connections, mysql.sock is looking in the right location, permissions are set correctly, yada, yada, yada....

I am using the default mac os x server build; i.e. php 4.3.10 and mysql ver 4.1.10a for apple darwin8.0

Thanks!
