Can you obtain a stack backtrace?

Run: typescript
then type: gdb fetchnews 1788 (replace 1788 by the process ID of fetchnews)
then type: backtrace full
then type: quit
then type: exit or logout (depending on your shell).

Then please send me the resulting typescript file.

It may also help if you set debugmode=1 in your config file before you
do this, and also send me the debug log (see the README file, section
DEBUGGING).
