How to deal with dynamic interfaces

Hi list,

while configuring data collection for linux-based devices with net-snmpd, I
noticed that dynamic interfaces like the ones created by pppd tend to go
down and reappear with a different interface number and a different IP
address (if no static IP adressing has been negotiated with the ISP) on
each connection re-establishment. This leads to "new" interfaces discovered
and the "old" ones being reported as down / outage.

Is there any easy way to deal with this? Even when I exclude the interfaces
from data collection and "unmanage" all the services they are rediscovered
on the "new" interface after the next reconnect.
