Question about stored internet history

Hi all,
I have a couple of questions for you. First question, is it possible for
tightVNC to be installed on a computer via an email or some other remote
means so that the owner of the computer has no knowledge of it being
installed? I have a friend who discovered that they had tightVNC installed
on their computer and it appears that it was set up on their computer as a
server. My next question is, if someone was using tightVNC to access the
internet via my friends computer would my friends computer store the
internet history of the pages that were being accessed via tightVNC client?
My friend is using firefox as a browser and in their history there are
internet pages that they swear they never went to. Thanks
               JMar
