C.J. and Dan, It has nothing whatsoever to do with whether the code has been modified. It depends on your interpretation of article 2 of the GPL. If you consider a single firmware file to be a software "work" then if anything in that "work" is under GPL, then EVERYTHING in that work is under GPL. Linksys posted files for only the GPL software in the WRT54G. They did not post the rest of the stuff that comprises source for the firmware, such as the network drivers, etc. That is the violation - depending on your interpretation of the GPL. In any case as I already posted, it is quite clear that the current copyright holder of Zebra, Kunihiro, has some vested interest in not supporting action against what is a potential customer of the firm he works for. Considering we can't get him to even update the Zebra code itself on a regular basis, the idea that he would spend time attempting to go after Linksys/Cisco on a GPL violation is a big stretch of the imagination.
