RIAA disabling audio ports?

Interesting story which is claiming that the "Stereo Mix" option available to
most computers is getting disabled by manufacturers because of pressure from
the RIAA.

It is not disabled in the hardware but at the operating system level.  Turning
it back on requires a series of registry hacks (obviously this is just in
Windows)
