Re: Random thoughts after talking to Paola

The other advantage is that freeculture.tv has a baked in audience of thousands of people... it has already been boing boinged and featured on the Miro Guide.

I'm happy to have a video feed on the front page of fc.o and freeculture.tv as the main video site...

But I'm assuming fc.tv would be a full-fledged video site, yes?

I think Parker is right. Two is sufficiently less than 10 zillion. And it sounds like, since freeculture.tv was built for this, it will be less work to set up and maintain.

I agree with the idea that website creep is not optimal, and I propose we stop before we hit 10 zillion.

I DO think, though, that the videoblog could benefit by being separate from the main blog.  I am in favor of using freeculture.tv for at least cross posting whatever goes up on our videoblog, and potentially as the main source.  Maybe a solution like boing boing has, where tv.boingboing.net is the main source, but every episode is crossposted on regular boing boing, would be optimal...

Of course I'm biased, but I think there's a good reason for freeculture.tv, and I think this kind of application is perfect for it.

I am 100% behind SFC having a video blog, it's a good idea which is long
overdue.

I'm not sure whether it should be on a separate website or not,
though... I think it would be fine to just use SFC's existing blog for a
videoblog.  Wordpress already automatically does enclosures that will
work in Miro, with a little tweaking we could have an excellent Miro
video channel through our Wordpress blog.  In fact, if you subscribe to
the SFC blog right now in Miro, you should get the MP4 download of the
Sparky promo video that I created (if you wait too long, it'll be too
far back in the RSS feed to be picked up, though).

To make the video portion of our blog awesomer, we could install the
suite of plugins from <http://showinabox.tv/>, or perhaps the Podcasting
plugin developed through Google SoC at
<http://cavemonkey50.com/code/podcasting/>.

Let's not have 10 zillion SFC websites, keep the website creep to a
minimum ;-)  That said, SFC videos certainly could also be
cross-published at www.freeculture.tv, along with any other relevant
free culture material that fits that channel.

Peace,
~Nelson~
