And an editor would have spotted that I referred to Milne & co as "a bunch of criminals". After crapping on me from a dizzy height he'd change it to "a bunch who seem to have acted criminally", because although all the evidence points in this direction, it has not been established beyond reasonable doubt. The qualification is crucial, and the system works most of the time... (Even courts work on "balance of probability" in civil cases, and "reasonable doubt" in criminal cases. Would you accuse the legal system of being irresponsible because their decisions are thus qualified?)
