The Wired article is a tad sensationalist, although a worthwhile read nonetheless. It appears to be the first commercial (i.e. non-academic) use-case for OpenFlow that I've seen.

For a more technical description of OpenFlow at Google, I'd recommend Urs Hoelzle's talk at the Open Networking Summit:
